Agents! If You’re Working Weekends, You’re Doing It All Wrong…

One of my favorite songs growing up was Loverboy’s hit single "Working for the Weekend." If you don’t know it, do yourself a favor—Google it. Better yet, watch the Saturday Night Live Chippendales skit with Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley. You’ll never be the same (in the best way possible). Now, here’s the problem… while most people are working for the weekend, real estate agents are working ON the weekend. And evenings. And holidays. And their own vacations. Sound familiar? Been There, Burned Out From That My first year in real estate, I thought I had to be available 24/7 . If a buyer called me at 9 p.m. to see a house, I was in my car by 9:05. Holidays? Didn’t matter. I distinctly remember showing $40K condos on Easter Sunday. Yes, it led to a sale. No, it wasn’t worth it. Why? Because I was training my clients how to treat me.
